The House Select Committee to Investigate Alleged Misconduct and Other Matters Included Indictments Against Rep. Thomas E. Wright gets underway this afternoon.
The committee is authorized to discipline or expel it’s members by the NC constitution. Further, the committee has defined probable cause as “a reasonable cause to believe that Rep. Wright has committed unlawful or unethical conduct justifying disciplinary action by the House.”
The committee will answer these two questions:
- Is it reasonable to believe that unlawful or unethical conduct justifying disciplinary action by the House?
- Is it reasonable to believe that Rep Wright probably committed the unlawful or unethical conduct?
Evidence of alleged misconduct will be presented to the committee this afternoon.
