Dmitry Medvedev, a 42-year-old lawyer who is pro-business has been endorsed by Russian President Vladimir Putin as his successor. From the descriptions of the man, they couldn’t be more unlike each other:
Dmitry Medvedev, born on September 14, 1965, is perhaps the most liberal and business-oriented official in President Putin’s administration. The International Herald Tribune is reporting that President Putin’s decision is expected to give a major boost to the economy. As if to underline the point, today Russia’s main stock index soared on the political news.
Check out this photo gallery of Medvedev. He looks a lot like an American politician on the campaign trail. I especially like the one of his and Putin’s faces in the same frame in close up (sixth photo down). Putin is all Tatar intensity and Medvedev looks, well, very Western.
