Yesterday, I noted that Democrats had spent more than $1 million to beat back the Scott Brown insurgency in the Bay State.

At the time, I was not aware how much more than $1 million.

Between the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the Martha Coakley campaign, and two union-backed groups, Coakley backers spent more than $4 million on ad buys in the days leading up to today’s special election, The Washington Post reports.

It ain’t over ’til the votes are counted (and maybe not until well after then), but it’s little wonder some Dems have coined a nickname for their state’s lackluster attorney general: Choakley.
