Why? Because the local lefties don’t have to read anything they disagree with in the new Herald-Sun.
They don’t have to read any coverage of corruption in local government,
which, of course, was race-motivated. And, most of all, they don’t have
to read news and comment from the “small-minded neo-cons” and their “smug preaching about the virtues of the free market.”
So says a self-described lefty in a letter to The Independent Weekly:
What we lost with last year’s management changeover was a
mean-spirited, conservative crowd that delighted in speaking out on
behalf of a certain part of the last generation of Durhamites. These
are folks who still deeply believe that the racist, homophobic,
cigarette-making, red-baiting 1950s were somehow the “good old days.”
