The “Smart Growth” ball continues to roll in Jackson County, the County just passed an ordinance to preserve and acquire historic properties. I have a few questions to ponder about this, like how much is this project going to cost taxpayers? The article states:

The board would also be given funds to help restore properties, along with acquiring historic properties, the document states. However, the ordinance states expenditures would have to be approved by commissioners.

If a property owner’s land is determined as “Historic” their hands could be tied on what they could do with their own property. It seems they may have the option to sell to the government.
