I’m a critic of the Winston-Salem Journal, but I give them credit for treating City Council member Dan Besse’s comment that all the ‘low hanging fruit’ from the city budget had been picked with skepticism.

The Journal’s Scott Sexton again again mentions Besse’s comment, concluding a tax increase is “probably going to happen, as a majority of City Council members have said they’d back such a move.”

Sexton says one option to help avoid that scenario is for the city to sell Joel Coliseum. Only problem is the “‘for sale’ sign tentatively hung on the Coliseum last year is still there,” with the most logical buyer—- Wake Forest University —- still holding out.
