A judge has overturned the City of Greensboro’s annexation of the unincorporated McLeansville community.

Assistant City Manager Denise Turner said “Greensboro has spent about $450,000 providing items such as new street signs and trash cans and public safety services for the subdivisions — a figure that does not include the cost to extend water and sewer lines.”

A couple of questions here. First, did the city actually begin running water and sewer out to McLeansville? Second —knowing that residents more than likely would appeal a earlier judge’s ruling ordering McLeanville’s annexation, why did they proceed anyway?

Whatever the answers, hard to feel sorry for the city here. This will certainly have an impact on an already tight budget. Maybe that’s my answer right there.
