Obama likes to be compared to FDR and there is much to that comparison. For instance, FDR was famous for just making things up in his speeches. (In his book New Deal or Raw Deal, Burt Folsom provides evidence of that.) In several of his speeches, Obama has played fast and loose with the truth in order to lure people into his web, most recently his health reform speech last Wednesday.

It’s hardly news that politicians lie to get people to support them, but the more power the government has, the more damage their lies do.
