This is the City of Greensboro’s idea of avoiding a tax hike: Stop repaving roads:
It is one of the worst ideas local officials have ever come up with, council member Robbie Perkins believes.
“It’s penny-wise and pound-foolish and all those other old sayings that mean ‘stupid,’ ” Perkins said, adding that he will vote against any budget that shirks so basic a function of local government.
With this crazy plan in mind, I still would like to know who’s talking about possible housing bonds —– Perkins brought them up in last week’s N&R article.
At any rate, city’s pushed itself into an interesting corner here.
