Brent McKinney is everywhere these days:

Transportation was the main theme of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Best Business Briefing Ever.” The briefing was held as part of the chamber’s 20th annual Piedmont Triad Business Showcase.

“If you want to know why we’re having this conversation, it’s because North Carolina is a rapidly growing state,” said Brent McKinney, the executive director of the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) and one of four speakers at the event…..

During his portion of the briefing, McKinney gave a quick overview of PART and its role, which is to help provide mass transit around the Piedmont Triad. McKinney also announced that May 9 the PART board approved a levy of 5 percent on all short-term rental vehicles in Randolph County to fund bus service into the county. The Randolph County commissioners had already approved the tax, McKinney said.

The Davidson County commissioners have approved a similar tax, McKinney said, and the PART board will hold a public hearing on that in June. Alamance County leaders are having similar discussions, he said.

Yeah, we know.
