Looks like Gov. Mike Whatshisname got himself another sweetheart real estate deal. This one goes all the way back to 1995 when Whatshisname was Attorney General. The state then settled a lawsuit over beach erosion with Bald Head Island Limited among other coastal property owners.
A year later, the AG was the proud owner of a $250,000 home on Bald Head Island sold to the AG and his brother by Bald Heads Island Limited. House down the street built and sold at the same time: $327,000.
Official reason for discount for the state official? No discount at all. The other home had a view worth $77,000 more.
The governor’s Bald Head Island home is now valued at $1.1 million.
