The Boston Globe article “Flaws are Found in Validating Medical Studies”
sheds light on the process of peer review for medical research. It also
brings to my mind two things: (1) Kruger’s ravings against
intelligent design based upon the “truth” found in his peer reviewed
scientific community; and (2) Last October at the Pope conference one
of the speakers explained how researchers who do not hold the
politically correct view will be left out of the “in crowds” which
develop in peer reviewed publications. As pointed out in the Globe
article, the reviewers, who remain anonymous, can make or break the
publication of research results. Things are of course changing now as
everyone can publish their ideas (for better or worse) on the internet.
