Davidson County commissioners yesterday unanimously approved the rezoning request by SunEdison for a solar farm that will produce between 10 and 20 megawatts of energy.

SunEdison still hasn’t signed the original $2 million incentives package negotiated with the county last year. I still don’t know what I’m missing here— the land has been rezoned, construction is expected to begin in a few months, yet there’s still no incentives package officially in place. The Dispatch points out that state law allows for a tax credit of up to 80 percent. No doubt SunEdison is aware of this and is waiting to combine that with a better incentives package from the county. I can’t imagine that the county won’t offer one up.
