The N.C. House just voted 104-15 to submit a constitutional amendment on eminent domain to the North Carolina voters.

That vote followed a last-minute effort to *kill the amendment by sending it back to a House judiciary committee. Amendment supporters won a 79-39 vote to block that last-minute effort.

*There is some dispute about whether this amendment is subject to the General Assembly’s crossover deadline. At least some of those members who wanted to send the bill back to committee might have believed that the action would not kill the amendment.
