• Left-wing activist group Progress North Carolina Action is following GOP gubernatorial nominee Pat McCrory around the state, flying a plane above events with a banner, “Who Pays McCrory.com.”
• Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., a possible GOP vice presidential selection, will appear at an event for Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-10th, June 13 in Lincoln County.
• U.S. Rep Howard Coble, R-6th, will undergo back surgery to treat compression of the spine. He expects to be hospitalized for a few days and recover at his Greensboro home.
• Vice President Joe Biden visited Winston-Salem Wednesday. It was not considered a campaign event.
