• Money matters. Outgoing Gov. Bev Perdue donates $250,ooo of her $2 million campaign war chest to the state Democratic Party, gives $4,000 to Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton’s campaign for governor, refunds $243,000 to donors, and keeps the rest.
• Survey says: A three-day poll by Survey USA for WRAL finds Mitt Romney with a 5-point lead over Barack Obama in North Carolina.
• We support … The Daily Reflector in Greenville endorses Democrats Janet Cowell, Elaine Marshall, and John Brooks in their Council of State races.
• Judges on the ballot. The culturally conservative NC Values Coalition, which led support for the marriage amendment, launches an ad on the state Supreme Court race, targeting Appeals Court Judge Jimmy Ervin and supporting incumbent Justice Paul Newby.
