• The big names keep coming. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, head of the Democratic National Committee, will campaign today in Raleigh and tomorrow in Winston-Salem for President Obama.
• Tight margin. A poll commissioned by the campaign of Democrat Jennifer Roberts puts the candidate for the 9th Congressional District surprisingly close to Republican Robert Pittenger in this presumed GOP stronghold.
• Not as close. A Republican poll of voters in state House District 41 (Wake County) found incumbent Republican incumbent Tom Murry with a 10-point lead over Democratic challenger Jim Messina. Also of interest: Mitt Romney has an 8-point lead over Barack Obama; analysts say Romney needs to win Wake and Mecklenburg counties or Obama will take North Carolina’s electoral votes again.
• Holdouts. U.S. Rep. Walter Jones, R-3rd District, joins Reps. Ron Paul of Texas and Justin Amash of Michigan as the only three Republican House members not to endorse Mitt Romney for president.
• Age-less appeal? Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., appears in an ad for the Romney-Ryan presidential ticket to pitch the team’s Medicare reforms.
