On the heels of the “mock UN” in which the superintendent (Jim McCormick) said that teachers did not fact check students’ research as it was not that important, the school system is in class today.

They claim it had to do with state laws about getting 180 days  of instruction in, but most other counties seem to have pulled off compliance with the law fine.  Such great leadership! (Vance County had a weather make-up day today, Duplin and Henderson also held classes)

Gotta give McCormick credit for spin however:

Lee County Schools Superintendent  Jim McCormick said Memorial Day is an ideal time for learning.

“What’s
exciting about today is that the young people in school, from what we
found out today, are focusing on the legacy, the history of people who
have contributed to the safety and welfare of this country,” he said.

You really can’t make up stuff like this.
