Alan Alda won the “West Wing” debate
against Jimmy Smits among the most important TV demographic — not the
voting seniors, but the product-buying 20- and 30-somethings. The
problem for NBC is that Smits is Martin Sheen’s heir apparent.
The writers even gave Smits what they thougher were the applause lines.
