Just hours after the the Senate passed a $12.7 billion cut in the federal student loan programs the fear mongering attempts to denounce the move have begun. Critics of the action are claiming that the reduction in the loan money will greatly hurt education opportunities for students and will hurt the country’s economic future. That is no where near the truth.

Today’s federal programs allow too many students to enter college and universities, many of whom never do anything more than attending sporting events and party on the weekends. College should not be for everyone, but for the best and the brightest students to learn and to enhance their education.

As for hurting the country’s economic future, look only at federal reports that state that the nation’s fastest growing industries are in areas where a college degree is not needed.
