Let’s pretend for just a second that government money is like other money. That is, there is a set amount of income loosely referred to as a budget. If we want more money, we have to do something for somebody to cause them to joyfully part with their money. Since money these days is tight, we will try instead to reprioritize our expenditures.

Horror of horrors, we see that the NCCAT is faced again with being shut down. The NCCAT is a center. If that doesn’t say it all, it is the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching. To me, the choice of what to do is simple. Governor Pat just had a plan to pay teachers more. Why doesn’t he ask educators if they would rather have more money for their personal budgets or touchy-feely programs at the center. It’s a tough choice, I know. I kinda miss cutting up in the back row with all the physics types.
