This story by David Rice of the Winston-Salem Journal is a must-read for everyone following the revelations about the “discretionary” fund (AKA slush fund)controlled by legislative leaders. It includes the following passage:

The attention focused on the “discretionary” grants for cultural and health projects – and Rhodes’ rhetoric about it – prompted a testy exchange between Black and Rhodes after a House session Monday night.

After Rhodes asked why the House didn’t consider a resolution to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the town of Cornelius in Rhodes’ district, Black fired back at the Mecklenburg Republican.

“You poke me in the eye, I’m not winking at you,” Black told Rhodes. “You poke me in the eye, I’m going to poke you back.”

Last night, Black had more to say about Rhodes. “John Rhodes wants the attorney general and the auditor to investigate. I’m going to ask the state psychiatrist to examine John Rhodes,” he said.
