Students at James Madison University, yesterday, held a rally at the Department of Education to protest Title IX and how it’s enforced, saying it discriminates against male athletes. The protest comes after a decision by the school to cut 10 athletic programs – 7 men, 3 women – in a move some say for budget reasons, other for Title IX compliance. Regardless, you have to applaud the students, many of whom were athletes, for taking a stand on a policy that has long outserved its usefulness.
