The City of Lexington, which has been the focus of a tough annexation battle in recent weeks, is asking a Wake County judge “to temporarily block official confirmation of petition drives that appear to stop annexations.”
Lexington joins Goldsboro, Kinston, Wilmington and Fayetteville in the lawsuit. The General Assembly passed annexation reform back in June, and the bill became law without Gov. Perdue’s signature.
