From a Hickory Daily Record story this morning:

Could a movie actually change someone?s vote? Charles Jones says yes.

Jones, a Hickory computer technician, watched the Michael Moore documentary ?Fahrenheit 9/11? Wednesday afternoon.

?I was a Bush supporter,? said Jones, 44. ?After seeing the movie, it now seems the Bush administration is like a Mafia – big business, big money, little man on the side.

?Before, I went along with the war. I believe what I was hearing. I?m going to vote independent or Democrat.?

I?m not at all suggesting that arguments for defeating Bush are necessarily propaganda. Reasonable people disagree about politics all the time. But Michael Moore?s inane screed is propaganda, possibly of an effective variety for some marginal voters.

By the way, here?s a classic Moore gem: ?The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not ?insurgents? or ?terrorists? or ?The Enemy? … They are the revolution, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow ? and they will win.?
