Mayor Terry Bellamy is considering running for Congress. Normally, I would be critical of an elected officer vying for higher office before their term expires. I, however, sympathize with the mayor. She has had to do more babysitting than a mayor ought, and it looks like council will only become more radical with the election today. May the mayor escape with her sanity.

Taking another angle, qualifications for the job include service on a transportation panel established by the governor and being “tapped by the White House to help measure stimulus funding effectiveness.” The mayor’s mathematical genius and economic prowess are, presumably, two more of her hidden talents. The mayor is also a woman who has “one” an election.
