We could have guessed: UNCG Chancellor Linda Brady rules that the firing of former employee Lyda Carpen for using a university laptop was justified:

In a five-page decision issued Thursday and released by Carpen’s attorney over the weekend, Brady also said Carpen created a conflict of interest by working for a company owned by two photographers that she supervised.

Brady’s decision aligns with a Dec. 10 recommendation by a panel of UNCG employees to uphold Carpen’s firing.

“I do not find your belief reasonable that your after-hours use of university-owned equipment was permissible because it did not occur during work hours,” Brady wrote.

I couldn’t help but notice the strong UNCG presence (including the Triad’s favorite liberal, Dr. Andrew Brod) among the six finalists for the City of Greensboro’s Strong Cities Strong Communities (SC2) challenge, which could net the winner in taxpayers’ money. Hopefully they’re being very careful about the resources they utilize in pursuit of this prize.
