The aldermen of the Town of Franklin voted to deny a petition for voluntary annexation from the owners of Ridgecrest Exxon. Like many annexations, this was viewed as an angling for a liquor license.
Vice Mayor Verlin Curtis, who motioned to deny the petition, said he felt annexation of the property was “of little value to the town.”
