Let’s see, low key advertising, smaller jackpots, confusion about where the money goes — yep, the North Carolina Education Lottery has all the makings of a train wreck. Now week-to-week ticket sales point to trouble.

Sales continue to decline with last week’s total of $2.7 million the lowest yet, $500K less than the previous week. That is far below expectations:

To meet its goals for helping education programs in the state, the lottery must average about $3.3 million per day in sales in the first year. (It’s at about $3.6 million per day now, thanks to the first few days of the games.)

Bottom-line, anyone counting on lotto money is bound to be disappointed.
