Katherine Jean questions Marsha Goodenow, from the DA’s office in Mecklenburg County. Myers Park High in Charlotte, Queens University, University of Akron, Air Force JAG, in Mecklenburg County’s DA office since 1990. Is now head of the homicide team there.

She’s handled well over 150 jury criminal trials. Jean asks about how many cases in which discovery was exchanged with defense. Goodenow says well over a thousand such cases, including rape and murder cases.

She says 50-100 times the DA’s office has exchanged discovery with the defense. Discusses conferences where continuing education explains obligations of a prosecutor to provide discovery for the defense. Nov. of 2004 there was a conference of DAs that included such a course regarding a new discovery statute in N.C.
