ABC News led with a Charlotte state legislator as part of its Lawmakers Behaving Badly hidden-camera expose.

Rep. Martha Alexander, who attended the National Conference of State Legislators shindig at Churchill Downs, defends the big party as just another thing taxpayers do not like about state legislators:

Reporter: Do you think taxpayers back home would like to see their legislators partying it up at Churchill Downs?

Alexander: They probably wouldn’t like it, but they don’t like most of the things we do.

In other words, screw the public, we’ll do as we please. The report goes on to show big parties and “fine Kentucky bourbon flowing freely.”

Not exactly freely — it is at the cost of open and honest government.
