According to a new study by the National Center for Education Statistics, students in the U.S. have improved their basic math and problem solving skills but have “learned very little of the most advanced skills such as solving multistep word problems and applying analytic logic.”
As one might expect, students who took precalculus paired with another course (such as calculus, IB or AP calculus) showed the largest gains in advanced skills.
