Or maybe it’s the other way around, who knows. The N&R’s write-up on Tanger Factory Outlet CEO Steven Tanger’s $7.5 million donation naming rights donation toward the proposed Greensboro performing arts center reports what we all know but to my knowledge has never been officially confirmed —that Coliseum director Matt Brown will run the place.

This comes on the heels of last week’s news that Brown –already the city’s highest-paid employee —got a phat raise and bonus. Maybe it’s me, but it seems a bit strange that the N&R’s editorial writers were scratching their heads over Brown’s raise while simultaneously cheerleading for the performing arts center—- especially Doug Clark, who posted ‘all I can say is money must grow on trees at Greensboro’s city hall.’

Evidently a lot of people –including the paper of record — think money does indeed grow on trees.
