McClatchy Watch claims that on direct orders from MNI HQ, layoffs have begin at the N&O, with explosive reactions. Given how closely Raleigh and Charlotte have tried the operate over the past year, I cannot imagine that Uptown reductions are far behind, if behind at all. They may be de facto mandated by what is going on in Raleigh.
