Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory is the subject of recent criticism in the Charlotte Observer for his refusal to sign the U.S. Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement.   The Agreement calls for use of “smart” growth policies in tandem with greater use of renewable resources.  McCrory has reportedly opposed the agreement because there is no consideration of nuclear power as a clean energy resource.  I applaud Mayor McCrory on his stance.  Clearly, if there is a priority to utilize more clean energy resources, then expanding the use of nuclear power should be central to such an effort as it is the only reliable and dispatchable clean energy source (and of course it’s much cheaper than so-called “renewables”).
