Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina on Tuesday held a rally for school choice at King?s Park International Church in Durham. The event featured a quick speech and question-and-answer session by Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory (Democrat Bev Perdue was invited but declined).

Several hundred people showed up. Here are some photos:

This is the second time PEFNC has sponsored a school choice event. Over 1,000 attended the last one, held in March 2007 at Upper Room Christian Academy in Raleigh.

One of the key points of the evening was the impact the next governor will have on educational freedom. McCrory discussed raising the cap on charter schools, opening up public school facilities for homeschool students, and expanding trade and vocational schools.
