More light rail woe.

Cost overruns and — get this — not enough revenue from a dedicated transit tax to pay for the system. This development, predicted well in advance by FasTracks’ critics, have them calling for — drum roll please! — a second public vote on the funding mechanism.

Better still, all they are talking about in Denver is a mere $3 billion shift in financial forecasts — $2 billion in increased costs and $1 billion in lower tax revenue — compared to the $8 billion difference in CATS’ plan for Mecklenburg. What was once sold to voters as a $1 billion transit plan now carries a price tag of $9 billion.

Yeah, we’re nuts and negative and backward-looking for wanting a do-over.
