Just trying to keep my head above water:

  • Harrah’s, as in Harrah’s Cherokee, is hip deep in debt. Were I the state of North Carolina, I’d be worried about that.
  • NASCAR, similar deal. Brian France is whining for more welfare money and Jeff Gordon is actually considering giving up a motor home. Or two. Sure glad the city of Charlotte expects 800K visitors a year to help pay off its joint venture with France.
  • So, does David Stern up and move — or contract and expand — an NBA team into London? Someone much more wired than me thinks it is coming. And in Phoenix, the NHL teeters. Check out this wrinkle, “The Coyotes signed a 30-year lease with the City of Glendale when they moved into the arena in December of 2003. The lease calls for large financial penalties if the agreement is broken, but if the club is placed into bankruptcy, it can break the lease through U.S. bankruptcy laws.” Sound interesting?
  • Me, I woulda voted for Trent Merchant for CMS chair. Anyone or anything is better than Coach Joe.
  • In New Hanover County public schools, Rudolph and Santa are too religious for one parent. Super. Spread the word.
  • Just when did the Messiah last speak to Gov. Wiretap? Why would anyone ask the Obama camp this question? Surely the FBI knows the answers. Hence the relevant question actually is, Do any of the wiretaps include conversations with Barack Obama? Is so, when did they take place? See, easy. And a potential explosion.
  • Out. For now.
