Another former Knight Ridder paper is reportedly looking at staff cuts of up to 30 percent. Will the same thing happen in Charlotte?
Dunno, but I have heard that some staffers at the Uptown paper of record have been worried about overlap with other local papers in the McClatchy empire. Plenty of movement already with 20-year KR vet Ken Garfield heading to church PR work and Tim Funk sliding into the “faith beat,” a slot that is more insulated from potential overlap than his previous crowded DC beat.
Interesting times.
