Papadoc’s comments below about the wonderful Salt Like City light rail line got me curious about what is going on with that. And what do you know — there is a petition fight over the trains there too!
Turns out there is a dispute over where the next TRAX rail line will run with some citizens wanting a vote on the proposed alignment. Local Powers That Be say that’s unpossible. The whole mess is headed for a courtroom.
Oh, and BTW, the Utah Transit Authority gets about 30 percent of its operating income from fares. Right now CATS gets less than half that amount at 14 percent.
