Can’t say I’m surprised.
In December the county had 409,252 jobs, according to state figures. New figures say Mecklenburg had 406,882 jobs in January — a drop of 2300. Compared to May 2010, that is a drop of almost 10,000 jobs.
Compared to the pre-recession employment high in mid-2008 — 37,000 jobs are gone. Yep that is some fine recovery.
I know — let’s have a big tax hike! That’ll fix everything!
