Says he was the person responsible for the idea that releasing all the DNA profiles might invade the privacy of some people not involved in the alleged rape. Is this what he said in December?
Meehan: Says he believes the first time he talked about his concern about this was in a phone conversation very early in the case when “I knew all these specimens were coming at us.” Says it came up a number of times. Says Nifong never told him not to put anything in the report.
Williamson was also confused about this. He asked if Meehan’s privacy concerns were about the other lacrosse players or about the non-players whose DNA was found. Meehan said it was always about the players. I have to say, that’s not what I’ve been hearing today. Why would there be any privacy concern for 40-plus lacrosse players whose photos and names had been plastered all over the media and on wanted posters?
Wiliamson wants an answer. He asks if Meehan’s non-probative statements were about the unknown DNA and Meehan says yes. Now I’m really confused.
