Now discussing how Meehan’s report came about. Says on April 10 or 21 (the two meetings he conflated into one), Meehan was concerned that all 46 people would get the report. He said producing entire DNA profiles of the players would result in “public dissemination” of the info and that would not be in the best interest of those in the report. “That was the only discussion we had” about what to put in the report. Nifong said he didn’t have to include the profiles. “Right now we’re looking for a report that will put the people entitled to receive it on notice” of what the test results are. Says it’s the only conversation he ever had about the contents.
Says he’s never been asked by a lab what to put in a report so he didn’t know what to say.
On May 12 he went to DSI with Himan and Gottleib. Still not sure what happened at what meeting since he’s confused about them, he said. Said they learned a DNA match was made on one of the fingernails. Meehan told them he had found Dave Evans’ DNA in the mixture on the fingernails taken from the trash can. “I said ‘David Evans’ and he (Meehan) looked at me surprised.” He said this based on Mangum’s PowerPoint ID of Evans sans moustache. [His confusion of the meetings is very confusing. Hope this is correct.]
Says the May 12 meeting was short. Says Meehan went over it in “perfunctory fashion.” Says he took no steps to make sure the DNA of non-lacrosse players was in the report. “I took now steps.” “I just didn’t notice if it was there.” Wanted to get back to his office and get these reports out. Was going out of town.
From May 12 to Dec. 13 how many times did you go back and review Meehans’ report? Nifong: Not sure I did go back over it.
