The League of Municipalities branded HB56 and SB27 as undermining the rule of law and expensive to the taxpayer:
Citizens should be very concerned about the General Assembly’s approach in overriding local ordinances adopted in good faith under the law at the time. This is a huge waste of the taxpayer money already invested in these annexations.
If 60% of citizens eligible for de-annexation felt this way, they would not petition for it.
