The N.C. Board of Elections resumed hearings this morning with more witnesses who gave campaign contributions to two Republicans in 2003.

The checks for then Reps. Michael Decker and Steve Wood in 2003 were designed to help support House Speaker Jim Black.

In this case, the contributors were Jeff Caudle and Dale Camp, nurse anesthetists. They say Dr. Peter Tucker of Charlotte advised them that supporting the two Republicans would help Black.

In the cases of both donors, checks written to Decker were cashed, while the checks to Wood were not cashed.
