The Charlotte Observer and The News & Observer features departments are going to merge. The move was announced in a memo from Charlotte Editor Rick Thames and Raleigh Executive Editor John Drescher:
We are pleased to announce that the features departments in Charlotte and Raleigh will merge and work together as one department. The editors in each department will plan together, communicate daily and assist each other in editing.
No truth to the rumor that after much negotiation it was decided to move the features staff to an office in Groometown.
