Democrats, progressives, Occupiers, the NAACP, and fellow travelers of all sorts, are trumpeting the return of Jim Crow if people voting actually have to prove who they are. They claim that people will be disenfranchised if they are forced to show an ID to a precinct worker, you know, like they have to hundreds of times a year for many less trivial things.

We all know these fears are balderdash and hogwash. That being the case, what possible reason could these people have for defending insecure ballots and making vote fraud easier? Former Democratic congressman Artur Davis, who is black, by the way, tells The Daily Caller he has an answer:

“What I have seen in my state, in my region, is the the most aggressive practitioners of voter-fraud are local machines who are tied lock, stock and barrel to the special interests in their communities — the landfills, the casino operators — and they’re cooking the [ballot] boxes on election day, they’re manufacturing absentee ballots, they’re voting [in the names of] people named Donald Duck, because they want to control politics and thwart progress,” he told TheDC.

“People who are progressives have no business defending those individuals.”

I don’t think that “special interests” who are pushing FOR better ballot security are the ones who have plans to subvert the electoral process, but, like Mr. Davis, I’m very suspicious of those who are fighting those who want to secure the integrity of the ballot.
