A new Carolina Journal exclusive highlights some of the questionable fundraising activities of former Deputy State Treasurer Patricia Gerrick, who solicited donations for SECU Family House, a charity affiliated with UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. While working in the treasurer’s office, Gerrick served on the Family House board and a fundraising committee and raised money from several donors who were connected to companies doing business with the state’s $60 billion pension fund.

CJ first reported on the as-yet unexplained departure of Gerrick, who left her $340,000 job in August, here.
