The woman named by The National Enquirer as being pregnant with John Edwards’ child is Rielle Hunter, the same woman, an aspiring actress, linked to Edwards in a cheating-scandal story earlier this year. As the story linked in the last sentence mentions, Rielle Hunter is her stage name, not her real name. She’s actually Lisa Druck, according to New York magazine.

Reporters from The Enquirer say they approached her while she was out shopping and that she was noticeably pregnant. They also say she is being housed at The Governor’s Club in Chatham County and that Edwards campaign official Andrew Young (he’s another Andrew Young, not the former Atlanta mayor who bragged recently about Bill Clinton’s conquests among black women) has said that he, not Edwards, is the father of the child.

Unnamed sources tell The Enquirer that Young is taking the fall for Edwards, and the paper notes skeptically that Young, too, lives in The Governor’s Club with his wife and family and that they have socialized with Hunter:

“If he really were the father of her baby and had engaged in an extramarital affair with her, I doubt seriously that he’d bring his wife and kids over to her house for dinner — which Rielle told me he did a few weeks ago.

Stay tuned.
