The Wake County school board has voted to convert most elementary schools to multi-track, year-round calendars — as the board moves forward with its bond plans.
The vote does not guarantee year-round schedules; board members want to see a plan to put those schedules in place.
A John Locke Foundation poll recently showed 71 percent of likely voters would support mandatory year-round schools to help control school construction costs.
